Memphis Sport – Man That Stings: Grizzlies lose to Hornets in OT, end home win streak. January 31, 2010

Filed under: Miss Attorney Ma'am — missatty @ 8:03 pm
“The Grizzlies have had every kind of amazing win during their now-over home streak, and it seemed every element of those wins that had been bouncing Memphis’ way bounced against them last night. The Hornets were not at full strength, they went down big early, and did everything right in the end.”

“Are you one of the 21 percent of law school students who, due to the changing legal job market, regret going to law school? If going to law school was a stupid decision for you, then congratulations — Vinny Guadagnino, the “self-confessed mama’s boy” of Jersey Shore fame, is smarter than you are.”

“I think this bit is catching on… we can now welcome DaMarre Carroll into the mix, and Mike Conley seems to be sweeting with a little more regularity. Clearly they are all just looking to get mentioned here. ”

Irony: TV Host Nancy Grace Wants to Bar Video Cameras in Melinda Duckett Wrongful Death Lawsuit – ABC News January 27, 2010

Filed under: Miss Attorney Ma'am — missatty @ 8:55 am
“If anything, I would suggest that guilt made her commit suicide,” Grace told ABC News’ Chris Cuomo. “To suggest that a 15- or 20-minute interview can cause someone to commit suicide is focusing on the wrong thing.”

Apparently Nancy doesn’t believe in innocent until proven guilty. Suicide as an admission of guilt? Wow.

EHarmony settles lawsuit over gay matchmaking January 27, 2010

Filed under: Miss Attorney Ma'am — missatty @ 8:47 am
“The firm also would establish a $2 million settlement fund, with about $500,000 set aside for gay, lesbian and bisexual Californians who can show they were harmed by eHarmony’s policies.” http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/01/26/BAGB1BNUE5.DTL&tsp=1

I’m sorry, but what?? Dating discrimination? Since when is matchmaking a right? Aren’t there plenty of business models that only serve a segment of the population? To me this would be like forcing Victoria Secret to sell men’s underwear (I’m surprised they don’t, but still) because of sex discrimination. Harmed by eHarmony? You choose to sign up and you know they don’t match same-sex couples, isn’t there a Torts term for this, coming to the nuisance? Assumption of risk? I forget. Nothing wrong being single.
