Crime in Memphis Appears to be Declining

Crime in Memphis is on its way down. Memphis police say the overall
crime rate in the Bluff City has gone down more than 14%.
 
They pulled the numbers from January 1st through June 30th of this
year and compared them to the same time frame in 2006. Criminal
homicides are down 12.5% compared to last year.
 
As far as other violent crimes, businesses robberies are down 41%,
carjacking is down 21%, and rape 20%.
 
Memphis police are also giving you more options when it comes to
reporting crimes anonymously. They’ve added a website for Crime
Stoppers.
 
The software sends the tip through a clearing house in canada where
any identifying information is removed before sending it to police.
